Technical SEO Services for Irish Websites That Google Can’t Fully Crawl, Index or Trust

Sometimes the content is good and the site is still invisible. Pages sit in Search Console as “Discovered – currently not indexed”. A relaunch wipes out last year’s traffic. The mobile site crawls because of a page builder, 30 plugins, a chat widget and a cookie banner all loading at once.

Technical SEO finds and fixes what stops search engines, and increasingly AI crawlers, from reaching, reading and trusting your pages. DigiWizard delivers prioritised, developer-ready fixes for WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify and custom sites across Ireland. Book a free consultation and we will check your Search Console with you.

Is it really a technical problem? Check these first

If none of these apply, the problem is more likely on-page or off-page, and we will say so rather than sell you an audit you do not need.

We start in Search Console, not with a generic crawl report

Most audits drop 300 low-value warnings on your desk. We begin with what Google itself reports: the page indexing report, crawl stats, Core Web Vitals field data, manual actions and security issues. Then we crawl the site and, where available, use server logs to see what bots really request.

Every finding is ranked by the pages that make you money. A broken link on a retired blog post does not outrank an indexing block on your best service page.

Core Web Vitals on real visitors’ phones, not one Lighthouse run

Google’s page experience assessment uses field data from real users, so a lab score of 95 on your own fast broadband proves little. We check each page template against Google’s thresholds: Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Cumulative Layout Shift under 0.1, and Interaction to Next Paint (which replaced First Input Delay in March 2024) at 200 milliseconds or less.

The usual causes on Irish business sites are oversized hero images and sliders, page-builder code, a heavy plugin stack, chat and booking widgets, tag-manager scripts, unoptimised fonts and consent banners that shift the layout. You receive specific fixes with before-and-after measurements, not a vague “improve speed”.

Redesign or migration coming? Protect your traffic first

The costliest technical SEO mistakes happen on launch day. Before a relaunch we:

If you have already lost traffic after a relaunch, we run a recovery audit to find missing redirects, changed URLs, lost internal links and leftover blocks. Some loss may come from content changes rather than technical faults, and we will tell you which is which.

01

Crawl the Old Site First

crawl the old site and record every URL, title and ranking page

02

Build the Redirect Map

build a redirect map so old addresses land on the right new pages

03

Block Staging, Then Unblock at Launch

keep staging blocked from search, then confirm the block is removed at launch (leftover noindex tags are a classic)

04

Check Sitemaps, Canonicals & Links

check sitemaps, canonical tags, internal links and the Search Console setup

05

Monitor for 4–8 Weeks After Launch

monitor rankings, indexing and traffic for four to eight weeks after go-live

Can AI crawlers read your site?

Your robots.txt now governs more than Googlebot and Bingbot. AI retrieval bots vary in capability, and many render JavaScript far less well than Google does, so text that only appears after client-side scripts may never be seen by them.

We check three things:

Allowing or blocking AI crawlers is a business decision. We lay out the trade-offs and document what you choose. None of this can guarantee a citation in an AI answer. For the content side, see our GEO service.

Platform problems we keep finding on Irish business sites

WordPress with a page builder and a long plugin list

bloat, conflicts and slow mobile templates.

WooCommerce and Shopify filters and collections

thousands of near-duplicate URLs eating crawl time.

Old domain and new domain both live

a .ie and a .com, or a pre-rebrand domain, with no redirects or canonicals.

English and Irish-language versions

missing or wrong hreflang tags.

Multi-location sites

duplicated templates, booking widgets that hide text, and inconsistent business details.

Cookie banners, GDPR and the data that goes missing

A badly configured consent tool can slow the page, shift the layout, hide content from crawlers or switch off analytics so you never see your real traffic. We work with your consent platform and your data protection adviser so the banner does what the law requires without damaging performance or measurement. We are not your legal adviser. We implement what you decide.

Structured data that matches what is on the page

We add and validate Organisation or LocalBusiness, Service, Product, Breadcrumb and Article markup where it reflects visible content. We do not add fake review markup, hidden text or markup for content that is not on the page. Structured data helps search engines understand a page. It does not guarantee rich results or AI inclusion.

What You Receive

Each issue comes with the affected URLs, why it matters, the exact fix and how to verify it, sorted into critical, high and routine.

What you receive: tickets your developer can actually work through

Each issue comes with the affected URLs, why it matters, the exact fix and how to verify it, sorted into critical, high and routine. You also get a short summary for non-technical decision-makers. If you do not have a developer, we can implement fixes on supported platforms and retest afterwards.

What we will not promise

A perfect Lighthouse score, instant indexing, or a ranking jump from technical fixes alone. Technical SEO removes the blockers. It does not create demand, which is why we coordinate it with your content and links.

How long does an audit take?

A small business site usually takes one to two weeks. Larger shops and multi-location sites take longer. We confirm the timeline before we start.

Both options are available. We can brief your developer or implement the fixes ourselves on WordPress, WooCommerce and Shopify.

Core Web Vitals are part of Google’s page experience signals, but relevance and quality matter more. Speed mainly removes friction, and faster pages usually convert better.

There is no reliable evidence that one is needed for Google. We focus on crawlable, server-rendered content and clear site structure instead.

If technical faults caused the loss, recovery is often possible but not instant or guaranteed. We confirm the cause first.
